For those of you who don’t know, KPL stands for Karnataka Premier League, the State version of the IPL. For those of you who don’t know, IPL stands for Indian Premier League, currently the second-highest paid sports league in the world and worth over $4 billion.
TheĀ inauguralĀ season of KPL in 2009 was another lesson why agencies should keep in constant touch with old clients. Quite sure that we wouldn’t have a chance among the crowd of ad agencies in Bangalore clamouring for a piece of the KPL action, we were pleasantly surprised to see an old client picking up the Mysore team. A phone call, a meeting and some wild ideas later, we were on the job. Two weeks to first match, they needed a name, a logo, website, ad campaign(TV, radio, print) and a lot of other things that go on to make a commercial sports team.
